Claudia, una amiga chilena que conocimos en Gainesville, les mandó a las niñas unas bolsas muy lindas que ella hizo. Las estrenaron el mismo día que las recibieron y las han traido para todos lados. Carmen la usa para llevar papel y colores o cuentas para hacer collares y pulseras. Y la de Isabel trae un par de juguetes y cambios de ropa, en caso de accidentes. Muchas gracias, Claudia! Nos encantaron!


Claudia, a friend from Chile that we met in Gainesville, sent us two pretty bags that she made for Carmen and Isabel. They have used them since the first day they got them and have been taking them everywhere we go. Carmen carries in her bag paper and colors or beads to make necklaces or wristbands, and Isabel puts in it a couple of toys and a change of clothes, just in case we have an accident away from home. Thanks a lot, Claudia! We love them!

Visitas/Company

El fin de semana pasado vinieron de visita Juanita, "Yayon" (como le dice Isabel), Carlos y María. Nos fuimos a pasear como es costumbre a Pátzcuaro y al centro de Morelia. Las niñas estuvieron felices jugando con ellos, dibujando y oyendo cuentos (la pobre Juanita le tuvo que contar a Carmen un cuento durante todo el trayecto de ida y vuelta a Pátzcuaro). Nos la pasamos muy rico. Qué bien que pudieron venir!




Last weekend we had company. Juanita, Yayon (as Isabel calls him), Carlos and María came to visit us. We went downtown Morelia and to Pátzcuaro, as usual. The girls were happy playing with them, drawing and hearing stories (poor Juanita had to tell Carmen a story all the way to Patzcuaro and back to Morelia.) We had a really nice time. Great that you could come!

Quién es ese señor?/ Who is that man?

Todos los días cuando llevo a las niñas al ballet, Isabel me pregunta quién es ese señor en el espectacular. Cuando le dije que un filósofo, dijo que no, que era su yayo. Después aceptó que era un "filoso", pero insiste en que se parecen mucho.

Every time I take the girls to ballet, Isabel asks me who is that man in an advertising billboard. When I told her it was a philopher, she said he wasn't, that it was her grandpa. After a brief discussion, she accepted that it was a "philoso", but kept saying that he looked a lot to her grandpa.

Fin de semana / weekend

El sábado las niñas empezaron a pintar los huevos que vamos a esconder por la casa el domingo de Pascua. Al principio rompieron un par de cascarones, pero aprendieron bastante rápido a tomarlos y pintarlos con cuidado y no rompieron ni uno más. A Isabel le encantó. Estaba bien clavada. Carmen pintó como 4 cascarones y después se embadurnó las manos de pintura.

On Saturday, the girls started painting the eggshells that we'll hide inside our house on Easter Sunday. At the beginning, they cracked a couple of eggshells, but they learned pretty quickly to handle and paint them with care and they didn't break any more. Isabel really liked this activity. She was really focused on her job. Carmen painted 4 eggshells more or less and then she decided she had done enough and got her hands all covered in paint.


El domingo fuimos al parque. Estuvimos un poco más de dos horas. Las niñas querían quedarse un poco más pero cuando Isabel vio que llegaron el hombre-araña, superman, un power ranger y un monstruo verde (creo que un enemigo del hombre araña)para animar una fiesta de cumpleaños que estaban celebrando en ese parque, se asustó y estuvo más que feliz de irnos de ahí.

Sunday morning we went to a park. We were there for two hours. The girls wanted to stay longer but when Isabel saw that Spiderman, Superman, a Power ranger and a green monster (one of Spiderman's enemies) had arrived to be at a Birthday party that a boy was having at the park, she got scared and was more than happy to leave.

A Carmen le ha dado por calcar, dibujar, colorear, recortar y hacer libritos. En la escuela le enseñaron a coserlos en lugar de engraparlos. Y por supuesto que cuando Isabel ve a Carmen trabajando ella quiere hacer lo mismo.

Lately, Carmen has been tracing drawings, coloring them, sometimes also cutting them and she's also been making her own books. She learned to sew them (instead of stapling them) at school. And when Isabel sees her big sister working, she also wants to do it, (of course).
